826NYC presents a Star-Filled Table Tennis Tournament to Raise Money for its Free Writing and Tutoring Programs for Children.
On *Wednesday, January 13th at 7PM*, 826NYC will present its first ever ping-pong tournament at the very excellent SPiN New York (48 23rd Street in Manhattan).
How can YOU be involved?
1. REGISTER TO PLAY! Registration is $100, and we have fewer than 10 spots left in our tournament bracket! Plus, the earlier you register, the more time you have to practice and raise funds to help 826NYC*. And the more funds you raise, the better chance you have of paying your way to a trophy—and playing one of our ping-pong pros (New York Ranger Sean Avery, chef Mario Batali, author Dave Eggers, actor Catherine Keener, actor Mike Myers, actor David Schwimmer, New York Times crossword editor Will Shortz and author Sarah Vowell)!
2. SUPPORT A PLAYER! Each player will be raising additional funds to support 826NYC's writing programs. The top 4 fundraisers will skip the initial rounds of the tournament and go straight to our SWEET SIXTEEN round, where they will have the chance to select which ping-pong pro they'd like to play (the remaining 32 players will have to play their way to the top)!
3. PURCHASE A TICKET to watch! Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling 826NYC (718.499.9884) between the hours of 11am and 5:30pm.
* Your $100 registration fee will also allow 826NYC to purchase a year's supply of pencils for its 273 after-school students; or publish 28 original stories written by a class of 4th graders; or help
a classroom of 12th graders revise their personal statements for college!
