Sea of Fire, Droplet of Youth

July 27, 2005

Summer programs are approaching their peak right now at 826NYC.

Just last week our Summer Playwrights entertained a packed house with stunning performances of Sea of Fire and Droplet of Youth. Check out the volunteer blog for an inside peek.

The Young Adult Writers' Colony is already approaching its second month! Last week our authors enjoyed pizza with several editors at Scholastic's SoHo headquarters as a part of the colony's Wednesday lunch sessions.

We're looking forward to the beginning of the Songwriting Workshop and Six Detectives this month, too!

New Workshops: Sign Up Soon!

July 13, 2005

Special thanks to the readers--David Sedaris, Lorrie Moore, Charles Baxter, Akhil Sharma, Sarah Vowell, Joyce Carol Oates, and Steve Buscemi--and guests who helped make our fundraiser last week hugely successful.

Summer programs have been running full swing since the holiday. Our Young Adult Writers have been meeting twice a week to workshop their upcoming novels. This afternoon, author Joanna Hershon talked with our authors over sandwiches and soda.

We're excited to hold performances of the two plays being written during our Summer Playwrights program. The full scripts are still in development, but we can guarantee at least one appearance from an astronaut fireman and a 120-year-old pirate. The performance will take place on Friday, July 22nd. All are welcome to join!

And we still have summer workshops running. So, if you're looking to polish your candy reviewing skills, or brush up on your storytelling/walking, or finally let loose with all of that quilting energy, or work out that song you've been humming all summer, we have a whole season's worth of classes to look into. Sign up soon!
