Mr. Bob's Wild Volcano Ride

Written for a Storytelling & Bookmaking field trip with Ms. Jamie's 1st-grade class from PS 261

Once there was a talking beaver named Mr. Bob. He lived in a volcano, and every morning he cooked his newspaper and read his eggs because he was crazy. He wore ripped clothes with patches all over and red lipstick. Mrs. Icky the Noble Sticky was a rabbit who lived next door. She was very sticky from eating sticky cheese, sticky pizza, sticky caramel apples, sticky gum, sticky candy and French toast with Maple syrup.

For fun, they rode the lava out of the volcano to a Candy World in outer space. In the Candy World, there was a monster protecting all the candy, a giant, and a vampire hiding behind the lollipops.

"Hey you guys," said Mr. Bob to the giant. "You can't live here! Where's your house? Where's your food?"

Mrs. Icky said, "We're going to eat all your candy, so you better get out of here."

The giant, who was suddenly angry and mean, said, "STOP IT NOW!"

"Okay," said Mr. Bob, "we can all stay here as long as you let us have some of the candy."

"Just talk to the vampire," said the giant. "'Cause I don't live here by myself."

Mr. Bob and Mrs. Icky were scared, so they asked the giant to come with them. The giant led them to the lollipops, where the vampire was sucking the juice out of a candy cane (in Candy World, candy canes were juicy).

"What are you doing here?" said the vampire. Mr. Bob and Mrs. Icky told him what they wanted, and the vampire secretly started thinking. He decided to set a trap for them and pushed them into a big pit of gummy bears.

"Help, help!" said Mr. Bob. "The gummy bears are sticking to me!"

"Let's try to eat our way out," said Mrs. Icky.

They started eating, but soon felt sick. Before long, they couldn't eat any more. Then, they heard a voice say, "I'm coming for you! I'll help you!"

"He sounds scary," said Mr. Bob, "but we're drowning in gummy bears."

Mrs. Icky called out to the voice, "Who are you?"

But before the voice answered, Mr. Bob and Mrs. Icky were pulled out of the gummy bears and they saw before them a big monster candy cane.
