How to Annoy a Person
by Nalani, Nala, Yasmeen & Jason, Ages 8-10
Written during Drop-In Tutoring
March 2006
Step 1. Learn their weakness or fear.
ie) place microphone in bedroom and catch words said while sleeping
Step 2. Use weaknesses against them.
Step 3. Learn our own weaknesses or fear in order to use them against a person.
ie) Sarah - losing gravity (words said: there is nothing to grab)
ie) Marcus is afraid of the dark - (words said: don't turn off the lights.)
ie) Nala is ticklish - (words said: please don't tickle me)
ie) Nalani is afraid of mice
ie) Yasmeen is afraid of finding her sister under her bed (she
doesn't have a sister)
ie) Jason is afraid the movie The Grudge being true
Step 4. To repeat and find something else on another night
ie) Nalani is going to tickle Nala and turn off the lights at nighttime.
Optional Step 5. Record weaknesses in notebook/memory
1. Record of Derek (Age 12) Sleep Conversation 3/6/06 10pm
Words Heard: Don't give me the cooties
Theory: Derek's weakness is girls.
2. Record of Gaby (age 10) Sleep Conversation on 3/7/06 11pm
Words Heard: please don't ruin my life until I have lived a full life
Theory: Gaby is afraid of a bully at school.
Step 6. Our Weakness Against Theirs
1. Jason vs. Derek: The Grudge is true vs. Girls
Theory: Jason will get over his fear more quickly than Derek. Because
when he is in middle school, he will probably see a scarier movie than
The Grudge. Hopefully, Jason will become mature enough that he will
not have nighmares about movies which are not that scary to adults.
Derek's fear might last a long time because he will always be around
girls. While a lot of movies are not real, girls are. He is in middle
school. He will hopefully get over this fear when he is sixteen or
older.
